As you know, this week, you and I will finally get some Face Time, or technically, Google Hangout Time. You signed up via Sign Up Genius last week and we have 10 minutes to discuss your Project #3 and other questions you may have about our class.
Last time during conferences, we ran into one major snag: many of you could hear me, but I could not hear you.
Here is how we fix that problem. Go to settings and make sure your mic is set to "built in" instead of "default."
Also, calls made from the GoogleHangout app works better than desktop conversations.
A review of how to video chat:
When it is time for your conference, go to GoogleHangouts. Invite bbradleyfsu@gmail.com to video chat. I will answer.
Because EVERYONE has to conference, your call will be followed by another person. This means you MUST be on time for your conference. Not late. Not early. On time.
The best way to make sure you are on time is to:
1. Make sure you know your conference time.
2. Make sure you have already installed all the technology you need for the call.
3. Make a practice call.
Don't forget:
Make sure your Internet Connection or WiFi is strong. If you are on campus, the places with the strongest WiFi are inside the buildings. Do not attempt to conference on Landis, outside the library, outside Einstein's Bagels, etc.
Pick a quiet place where you won't be disturbed, but also where you won't disturb others.
If you cannot get Google Hangout to work on your laptop, try your phone.
Our time is limited, so make sure that you are making the most of it.
You must upload your link to your genres BEFORE conference. I will not review your genres after our phone call, so if you want feedback, you must give me a chance to read it before conference.
If you questions, concerns or confusion about the course, now is the time to ask. Write them down BEFORE conference.
Talk soon.
