For this project, you must compose three different compositions in the appropriate visual, audio or text based modes which you will distribute to the appropriate audience through the appropriate digital and social media platforms.

Here are the rules:

  • You must build 3 compositions which you can promote and distribute to its appropriate audience. They can be informative, persuasive, or narrative, any combination or hybrid of the three, if appropriate to your campaign and your audience. They must be completely built and ready to share with your classmates by November 8 at 11:59pm.

  • No informative essays. You have already composed in the formal informative genre with your P2 paper.

  • No Powerpoint Presentations. This is a project which must be distributed to the appropriate audience. Your appropriate audience is not limited to people you can connect with Face to Face. Also, posting a Powerpoint online will not work because people do not download Powerpoints to view in their leisure time.

  • No flyers or other print materials. Because you cannot easily track how people respond to it. Also, consider the cost of print materials, locating where your audience would be congregated, the time it takes to hand out the number of flyers required to be successful. In the long run, print is going to be more trouble than it is worth. Posters are print materials.

Here are further guidelines for specific modes and genres (IF YOU SELECT ANY OF THE FOLLOWING MODES/GENRES THEN YOU WILL BE HELD TO THESE GUIDELINES)

  • Twitter: A minimum of 100 Tweets. That is a base of 25 Tweets to start by Nov 8 (when you Peer Review) and then at least two-three Tweets a day until Dec. 6.

  • Instagram Account: minimum of 50 photos. That is a base of 25 and one-two posts a day until Dec. 6. This is a visual mode, so each image should be visually stimulating or interesting.

  • Podcast: Minimum of 30 minutes and no more than 45 minutes.

  • Specific Wix Website: Minimum of three pages - Home, About, Facts. Each page must have at least 100 words and a visual element.

  • Video: Under 3 minutes.

  • Infographic: Single page, minimal text, visually stimulating, images must be relevant, color (even if it is a splash of color on a black and white design)

  • Short Fiction: A narrative with character, plot and setting. Minimum of 10 double-spaced pages in Times New Roman 12 pt.

  • Blog: (Either Tumblr or Wix) Minimum of 20 blog posts. 10 posts by Nov. 8 and 2-3 posts a week until Dec. 6. 200-300 words per post with relevant artwork. (IF YOU CHOOSE TO BUILD A BLOG AND A CAMPAIGN SPECIFIC

  • Pinterest account: Minimum of 10 boards with 40 pins per board which are relevant and relate to your campaign. All 10 Boards built with 20 pins per board by Nov 8. Pin daily until Dec 6.

  • Song: Minimum of 2 minutes and no more than 4 minutes.

If you want to do something which is NOT on this list, run it past me. Likely I will ask questions like:

  • Why would this appeal to your audience?

  • How would you plan to promote it?

As always, you can set up a video chat with me during office hours to brainstorm ideas. I am extending Office Hours for this Project to include Wednesday from 11am-1pm. Sign up at Make An Appointment.

Don't forget: Peer Review Evaluation for P2 is to be uploaded to Canvas before 11/1 at 11:59pm
