How to Video Conference

As you know, this week, you and I will finally get some Face Time, or technically, Google Hangout Time. You signed up via Sign Up Genius last week and we have 10 minutes to discuss your Project #2 draft and other questions you may have about our class.
When it is time for your conference, go to GoogleHangouts. Invite bbradleyfsu@gmail.com to video chat. I will answer.
Because EVERYONE has to conference, your call will be followed by another person. This means you MUST be on time for your conference. Not late. Not early. On time.
The best way to make sure you are on time is to:
1. Make sure you know your conference time.
2. Make sure you have already installed all the technology you need for the call.
3. Make a practice call.
Many of you have already attempted and completed video calls with members of the class. Some of you have met with me in video conferences during office hours. For those of you who have never video conferenced before, remember these things:
Make sure your Internet Connection or WiFi is strong. If you are on campus, the places with the strongest WiFi are inside the buildings. Do not attempt to conference on Landis, outside the library, outside Einstein's Bagels, etc.
Pick a quiet place where you won't be disturbed, but also where you won't disturb others. Some of you have already experienced a roommate interrupting a conference. If you are on Campus, don't conference in the Strozier Library in the study rooms. They are not soundproof and your conference will disturb those who are studying.
If you cannot get Google Hangout to work on your laptop, try your phone.
Our time is limited, so make sure that you are making the most of it.
You must upload your Conference Draft BEFORE conference. I will not read or review a draft after our phone call, so if you want feedback on that draft, you must give me a chance to read it before conference.
If you questions, concerns or confusion about the course, now is the time to ask. Write them down BEFORE conference.
Talk soon.
