First: Today, Project 3 is over. If you have not already, make sure you upload your 1,000 word process report to your P3 page along with evidence of promotion, your 2 advertisements for your narrative, access to the narrative page, along with your promotion plan BEFORE 11:59 pm TODAY (Monday) APRIL 22.

The rest of the week should focus on perfecting your ePortfolio page.

You are being graded on design. You have spent the entire semester becoming familiar with Wix. Now, use those skills to make your WIx page look like a place where your readers would like to visit. A webpage is like a house. You set it up so people who come visit will feel comfortable spending time there.

Make sure you are not just uploading documents to your page, but designing the page. Make it look like a professional website which represents you. Copy the design of the Class Wix pages if you are stumped for ideas. Your most updated draft should be visible on the page without having to click on an icon. A reader should be able to go to your page and be able to read your final draft without clicking 100 buttons. You may upload your first draft, or short assignments as Pdfs. No Word Docs on the Wix pages.

Again, you are graded on web design.

Your Wix/ePortfolio (the one you have been using all semester to turn in your assignments) is the culmination of all the good work you have produced this semester. This is your showcase. 82% of your grade will be based on the completion of this project.

Listed below is everything you MUST have on your Wix page.

****If it is not on the page, you won't get the points for it.****

Let me repeat that: if you have not posted something which is required to be on this page, I WILL NOT GIVE YOU THE POINTS. Even if I have already graded it in Canvas, it must appear ON THE PAGE!!!!!

Your Wix/ePortfolio should include:

About page -

  • This is where your 200-500 word Mandate should be posted.

  • Be sure to include:

The name of your Media Industry

What does your media industry stand for?

What is your brand?

What can a reader of your website expect to see?

Include photos which represent a visual representation of your values.

Here is the good news: You have already done all the work. All drafts and short assignments have been uploaded to Canvas. You must make sure you arrange it in a way for others to easily see what you have accomplished. This is a representative of your brand, which means that you can use this as examples of your work for scholarships, job opportunities, internships, grants, and more. You can use this Wix page as an example of you ability to write about a subject you are passionate about, conduct academic level research, compose a variety of compositions depending upon the audience AND design a website. These are the skills which will be helpful when applying for jobs, scholarships, and internships.

Deadline for the FINALIZED Wix/ePortfolio is FRIDAY APRIL 26 by 5PM. You must upload the link to Canvas AND Tweet the link to your classmates. NOTE THE CHANGE IN TIME! This is the only assignment which must be completed by end of business day.

Before you post, make sure you:

  • Double check that the link is correct. View the site on your computer, your friend's computer, PC, Mac, everything. View it on mobile and desktop. Email the link to a friend and make sure they can open it.

  • Make sure none of your words are overlapping and impossible to read because of poor layout and design.

  • Make sure all your pages fulfill the requirements above.

  • Make sure all the hyperlinks on each page work. (Especially social media accounts).

  • Make sure previous drafts and Short Assignments are Pdfs instead of Word Documents. Word documents force the reader to download a file to their computer where a Pdf will open in a new tab.

  • Make sure the viewer can comfortably read everything on the page. You are not graded on how flashy and fancy your website looks. Distracting backgrounds can frustrate the reader and make uploading the page more difficult. You are graded on ease of access.

  • Use the fonts and colors provided with your Wix template. When you add text (either a headline or paragraph), your template offers "Themed Text". These are fonts which look good together. Use them. Same with the provided color scheme on the page.

  • If you revised, make SURE the revision draft is the primary text on the page, replacing the previous draft.
